Kebbi State to train unqualified teachers

Dec 20, 2011 – The Kebbi State Government has concluded plans to establish a task force to compel unqualified teachers to obtained relevant qualifications in line with the national policy on education.
The state’s Commissioner for Education, Abdullahi Kamba, said that the task force would collaborate with the Universal Basic Education Board and other stakeholders to ensure that teachers were compelled to obtain certificates beyond grade two.
He said that JSS teachers would be trained to obtain the mandatory qualification to teach, adding that the names of the unqualified teachers in primary and secondary schools were being compiled to ascertain the actual number of those who were not qualified (daily times).
